Illinois, Bolingbrook Star Troy Snyder commits to the Nix

Bolingbrook High School senior Troy Snyder showed his stuff for the RBS All-Stars this summer.  Darryl Royster's RBS team won the AAU West Coast National Championship, the Gold Division title at the National Youth Basketball Championships and the Silver Division title at the Chicago Summer Classic.  Snyder unselfish team play was a big reason for the success.

The 6'6" wing, is versatile player displaying a strong inside and mid-range game.  He can defend in the post or on the perimeter.  Snyder told ChicagoHoops.com UWGB was "My type of place."   The Nix assistants Angres Thorpe and Brian Wardle as well as the new Kress Center were big factors in the Bolingbrook star’s decision.

Illinois Prep Bullseye Brothers have said this about Snyder: “He is an outstanding athlete who at this point is primarily a slasher. He has a great nose for the ball and has strong instincts on the glass, which is why he excels as an offensive rebounder and scores a multitude of points on put backs.”  In his junior year Snyder averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting .495 from the field.

Snyder’s Bolingbrook team is one of the top rated basketball schools in the state.  They have a lot of talent coming back as well as 6-3 transfer Diamond Taylor, a University of Wisconsin recruit.

Bolingbrook head coach Rob Brost says the best is yet to come for Snyder, "Troy played very well, at the NIU camp at Moody Bible.  He was one of the top 2-3 players there. He has been working tremendously hard to bring his game to the next level. He already has his qualifying score in the ACT, too, so he is all packaged and ready."

The 2009 recruit had a handful of scholarship offers from a number of Midwest mid major programs including Loyola, UIC, NIU, Bradley and Illinois State.

Another Illinois high school star Seth Evans of Seneca High School and the AAU Illinois Stars is set to join the UWGB 2009 recruiting class.  The all state guard is joined on the UWGB by post player Clay Heuer of Wisconsin Rapids and Laconia guard Derek Semenas.
